Hello and Welcome!

I am starting this little blog to chronicle my quilting journey and maybe learn a few things along the way. I've been quilting for almost 2 years now and I'm currently in 2 local guilds.

As luck would have it, my sewing machine is currently in for a repair so I thought I would use the opportunity to get this blog started and post some quilts that are already done!
This is my simple brick quilt. The pattern was in the October 2011 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting and it was called Now and Later.
Brick quilt 1.
The original quilt was done in 1930s reproduction prints. I did mine with a combination of scraps from my stash and charm packs to get a really good color range! The hardest part of this quilt was laying out the colors and making sure it flowed well. Although it is the easiest quilt I've ever made it is probably my favorite and gets used more than any other quilt I've made thus far.

I actually had a lot of left over bricks so I went ahead and made a baby version with the left overs. I decide to make this one a litte more fun and use black fabric to really set off the colors and when I sent it to be quilted I asked for variegated thread.

You will find over time that it is EXTREMELY challenging to get any pictures of a quilt in this house without a cat on top of it! This is Zombie, the youngest cat, and he has a unique habit of burrowing under covers and treating them as caves.I will try to use the time that my machine is gone to get caught up on past projects so that by the time it gets back we'll all be caught up with the present!
