I wanted to take a moment to catch up on my Splendid Sampler progress.
Block 4. I really had to think out of the box for this one and think about how I could adapt it to my palette. This isn't a block I would have ever made on my own so I love that I'm pushing myself to do things outside of my norm.
Block 5. A relatively easy, straight forward block made super fun with bold colors and fussy cuts!
Block 6. Another block where I did what was best for my personal taste and pallet. Instead of the 4 HST in the center, I opted for a big fussy cut, and then instead of doing 8 flying guess for the outer row, that would have left the mustard color in one pieced but would have left the purple with a seam, I instead did 4 flying geese and 8 HST so that my purple didn't have the seam. This may be my favorite block so far.
Block 7 instructions were released this morning and it is an embroidery block that is way out of my comfort zone and doesn't lend itself well to the bold fabrics I've chosen. I've been slowly trying to wrap my brain around it. Like I said, I don't think the block with work well with a bold fabric background, but if I pick a more neutral fabric for this block then it will stand out to much from the rest of the quilt. I still need to give this block more thought before continuing.
