I have completed my Teal Mini Swap quilt and my partner has already confirmed she received it so now I can share!
The challenge fabric was the teal Basic Mixologie print and I made a block from the book Patchwork City by Elizabeth Hartman from the Metro Area quilt. The challenge was only to make a mini quilt or a mug rug, but her 5x8 blocks are the perfect size for mug rugs, so I couldn't resist doing something extra! Besides, once you already have all that fabric pulled out, why not? Plus, I was worried she might not be a fan of all the little animals hiding in the mini, so I figured if she hated the mini, at least the mug rug was pretty neutral!
I've been trying to get a little more adventurous with my quilting, especially now that I've moved about 2 hours away from my quilter, but I still don't do anything that I can't do with my walking foot. I feel like this was still more adventurous then what i usually do, so I'm obviously making progress! I figure if I can get better at quilting while I'm working on these mini's, someday I'll be able to quilt my own fullsize! A girl can dream!
I couldn't imagine sending a mug rug without a mug so I found a cute mug to ship along, and also a blingy notebook because I know I always need another cute notebook to sketch in! Notice Adrian hanging out on the side. He seems to approve so it must be good!
I had so much fun with this project and I can't wait to do it again next year! This year there are 300 some participants. Imagine if you could get all of those mini quilts and mug rugs in the same room!
